“You can only perceive real beauty in a person as they get older.” — Anouk Aimée

Women over 50 look and feel younger than ever before. But according to legendary make up artist Bobby Brown, “It’s not about looking younger – it’s about looking fresher.” In a series on looking and feeling great over 50, we start with Bobby Brown’s top tips for taking years off your face in 5 minutes

Always begin your beauty routine by applying a rich moisturiser. This will your face look plumper, minimizing lines and giving a more youthful appearance.

To brighten, use a concealer and corrector under the eyes close to the lashes. This minimizes dark circles and makes you look more rested.

Bobby recommends using a gel or powder eyeliner to give your eyes definition. Use a small brush and apply from the inner corner out – don’t stop half way but line the entire lash line. Bobby also recommends lining under the eye, saying the trick is to make the lower line softer and more subtle than the top. Finish with black mascara to make your eyes pop.

Because eyebrows can thin as we age, Bobby recommends using a powder that doesn’t darken eyebrows, but fills them in. Well-defined, fuller eyebrows help create definition to the face.

For lips, Bobby suggests that we stay away for dark colours as they make the lip look smaller. Instead, use sheer shades that provide colour without making you look overly done up. To finish apply a clear lip gloss to make the lips look plumper.
